Default Full exhaust system question?????

Whats up everyone. I have done countless hours or reading about headers and which is the best. I have a 99 T/A A4 and was wondering what is the best full exhaust system? I am not looking for true duels or anything like that. I was considering Kooks headers with custom duel electric cutouts on y pipe for fun days with a GMMG catback. I know its a lot of money but I want the best performing and sounding exhaust system. I heard with no cats is has rasp and drone. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

why is everyone saying dual cutouts? you only need one on a y pipe....there is no best "anything" mod, but if your on a budget then a nice set of coated pacesetters and an ory with hooker catback is the way to go. if you have no budget, kooks or qtp stainless, ory, and i would still go with hooker catback but youd prob. want corsa or borla...

What is the best sounding catback with minimal rasp for coated pacesetters with ORY?

Is it worth to get Kooks or QTP for the extra money? or are pacesetters just as good?

pacesetters are just coated steel, they arent stainless like kooks...stainless will outlast your car, but youll pay for it..

Kooks and Qtp are some of the best headers in the market but as stated before if you are on somewhat of a budget get the pacesetter you will be more than happy

I bought the Supermaxx system from Dynatech for the 98Z28 and have been very happy with it. Plenty of ground clearance no scrubbing at all. All stainless steel headers that have a thick *** flange that bolts to the engine. All stainless catted y-pipe nice.

Does anyone have a sound clip for Pacesetters, ORY, and GMMG or Pacesetters, catted y and GMMG or any other catback WITHOUT a cam job. All thats on ls1sounds are cam jobs and I am not going to be doing a cam job in the future. The sound is totally different. Thanks

id say kooks, ory and magnaflow cat back. if your worried about rasp, get a high flow cat. ive also heard that welding the the system may help, instead of using clamps.

All LT's make about rhe same HP, however if you car will see a lot or rain or even some snow then id go stainless as coating can and will flake off after a few years. It happened to my macs. Again if you have the cash id go with the kooks 1 3/4, their ory, and I like my magnaflow, but hooker/corsa/borla/GMMG all sound real good too. Its basically how loud you want the system to be. Magnaflow is pretty tame as is the hooker. The adjustable borla with the plate all the way open will be pretty loud but sounds good as does the corsa.

Thanks alot for all the input, I will prob be buying coated pacestters, ORY and GMMG. Taking out the EGR and AIR will require a tune and deletion of the codes. Right? Is ORY just basically loudness compared to the catted y?

Yea you will need the codes deleted, which requires a program such as hp tuners or efi live. What I did was I got my inspection sticker, then the next day i installed my headers gutted y-pipe and catback and ran it with the ses light for a year until I got my cam install done and tuned, then all the codes were deleted so if you pln on going cam or heads/cam in the future id hold off on the tune as they are usuall around 400-500 dollars. Ory will make the exhaust louder and will have a little more rasp to it. I would say if your looking for all out loud then go with the pacesetters/ory/gmmg but if you want a more refined mellow tone go with a magnaflow or hooker catback. Heres a clip of my cammed 98 z28 with mac mids/ory/magnaflow:

I was running an slp lm system before and it was insane! It was so loud I didnt even want to drive the car for a long distance but the magnaflow fixed that. I have heard Heads/Cam/LTs/Ory/Gmmg and it sounds good but its loud...its even loud on the stock cam so just be warned that it does sound badass but could get on your nerves in the future.

QTP HVMC headers, QTP ORY (Catted hangs too low), and SLP Dual/Dual is the way to go IMHO...

I'm running not cats, with some hooker shorties and a Magnaflow, its loud when you stomp on it, and not so raspy or droney, actually sounds better than it did when the cats were on the car.
