Default Please help!! Terrible sqeak coming from front of motor.

I took off the AC belt and the sqeak was still there so that rules out 3 of the pulleys. I tried spinning the p/s, altenator, water pump and idler and they all spun pretty well. It sounds like it is either coming from the balancer or water pump but its really hard to tell. Also when i give the car more gas in 5th or 6th gear it instantly gets louder even before the rpms go up. Any opinions would be much appreciated. TIA.

Can't you try running it without the accessory belt?

I was going to suggest that, but he said he was sure it was squeaking from one of the two pumps. Thus, removing it would just get rid of the squeak rather than pinpointing it which is a lot harder. I guess it can't hurt to do it though. Make sure the engine is cooled down a bit and run the engine for a few seconds to see if the squeak is still there.

I pulled off both belts earlier and the sqeak was still there. Im sure its the balancer now. I wonder if ASP has any kind of warranty?

How did this squeaking come about?

One trick you can use to find the origin of a squeak or squeal is to use a length of tubing as a stethescope. Cut a piece of old garden hose or get some plastic hose at the hardware store.

Hold one end to your ear and point the other end at the suspected component. Obviously, be careful it doesn't get caught up.

Move it around close to things until you find the offending unit. It worked for me to help find my squealing idler pulley.

my water pump went bad and made alot of squeking. but after the engine ran for about 10-15min it would stop but come back everytime id restart the car. it also leaked a little on my belts and got my tensioner pulley for the AC wet which still squeeks if it gets wet.
