How to cut down drone on highway - loudmouth
Just wondering what the best way to cut down highway drone would be. At about 2100-2500 RPM the drone in the car from the exhaust is loud and I want to try to cut it down some. The noise doesnt bother me with regular driving, but on the highway it is constant. Wondering if a bullet muffler will help cut down on the drone or not. What is the best way to solve my problem without switching exhaust setups totally? THANKS

forgot to mention that, running stock cats and manifolds, so no issues there - I am curious if a bullet muffler will take care of my problem or if I should look more into sprial flow mufflers which offer more noise control.

I don't know from personal experience but a lot of people seem to go with a magnaflow bullet or dynomax bullet. You may want to look into it a little more if you are looking for something like a spiral flow or powerstick.
I don't think the noise in the loudmouth is that loud. My buddy had his LMI installed a while back and I was seriously expecting it to be a lot louder and annoying.

earphones...
But in all seriousness I have it too and I just kinda have to deal with it. I bought a dynomax bullet muffler that we be installed when the new headers and Y go in so Im thinking that should help a lot.

I had the Loudmouth for two years and the drone on the highway drove the wife and I nuts, I also have cats. I put the Hooker catback system on and we love it. We just got back from a 900 mile road trip down the Oregon coast, we are talking no exhaust noise inside the car, but you can still hear the rumble outside. Sounds like an iron block motor at part throttle, very stealthy.
IMO I would get rid of the LM.

Turn up the radio!! Though the drone didn't bother me, when ever i was on the phone people would think i was playing a video game, guess they could hear the exhaust over my voice... ::shrug::

The diameter of the XR1 is to much. I had one put on but I could see it hanging low and looked tacky from a distance, it doesn't tuck up in there at all. It sounded good though.

The drone has to do with the volume/tone of the exhaust. You get a noise that just sort of drowns everything else out (music, girlfriend in passenger seat). It doesn't bother me at all except on the highway making trips of 150 miles. Around town it doesn't drone because you aren't holding a specific RPM for very long but on the highhway it is a different story. I suppose it can be likened to the sound of the engines while you are on an airplane, an LS1 airplane Still thinking the XR-1 is my best bet unless someone else can offer me some better advice, thanks

The drone is kinda like a bunch of bees. Its a very deep HUMMM. You can feel it in your chest. When you are running at a steady 1700-2100 RPM, you can feel it and you cant hear anything else. I either have to drop it into 5th or just speed up to like 70-75mph. Its not unbearable, just annoying.
