Are you talking about the collector or the header gasket? I am assuming that you are talking about the header gasket. Why didn't you get the MLS stockers? They have always worked great for me everytime. You need a cam..... that is what it is.

make sure you threading them in with your bare hands so you have a good grip... the heads stock? just make sure you lift up on the headers so there's some give for them. and for heavens sake if it's not threading right STOP! you don't want to strip that aluminum

I had my girlfriend threading bolts while i was holding the headers up and she cross threaded one of my bolts. What i did was wrong but worked so far, i carefully threaded the bolt in as far as i could get it without stripping or breaking (i mean verry carefully) i was able to get it abut 3/4 way in. I backed it out carefully and just shimmed it with some washers and carefully screwed it back in. (extra carefull at the end so i would not strip it out) This is not what you probably want to do but mine was fucked up and i will be getting new heads in a month or so anyway. I have no leaks and seems to be just fine. But i would not recomend this, maybe use a tap and carefully tap it out using oil that should help the bolt thread better.

Back them out, lower the headers out of the way and put them in by hand first to make sure they are ok. Anty that get hung up, clean up the threads with a tap or thread chaser. Use the GM gaskets. The time you take now to avoid bigger problems will be well worth it.

Yep, clean holes with a thread chaser (or a tap, but watch out, a tap cuts metal),
lubing with oil as you chase, and back out and clean chaser often;
try to get to bottom of hole, but DO NOT FORCE chaser.

blow out with brake cleen and compressed air when done chasing;
clean threads on bolts with matching die chaser.

did you put all of them in by hand or did you tighten a couple and then try to finish putting the rest in? you can get a tap at at just about any auto store or even some hardware stores.

I had the same problem with my header bolts not wanting to thread in. They came out easy but when I went to thread them back in by hand, four of them were being stubborn. I went everywhere looking for a thread chaser but everyone gave me the "deer in the headlights" look when I queried them about it. I ended up just buying a M8x1.25 tap at the hardware store for $3.50. I CAREFULLY threaded it in by hand part way to make sure it was starting into the hole STRAIGHT. After I met resistance, I used a little wrench from an ignition wrench set (they're really tiny wrenches) to turn the tap. Each hole took about 3 turns of the tap to clean up the threads to where the header bolt would go in without hanging up. After using the tap, I used a q-tip to clean any metal shavings out of the holes. A thread chaser definitely would've been better for this but a tap worked just fine for me.

The last set I did was like that. Every hole in the header flange has got to be dead perfect and you have to hold your mouth just right.

Why not just try stepping up 1 size and running a drill bit through the holes to give you a few thousandths of clearance. It works.

Also I take the front and back bolt and get it started in the head with the header on. Then I take the stock mls gaskets and use a pair of tin snips to cut a slot in them so the gasket can drop in. Then go to the inner bolts.

I used to small zip ties to hold the gasket to the header. For the bolts, I used new OEM bolts (with anti-seize) with new OEM gaskets, and everything went in real nice.
