Default cuout?

I've read all the stickies n such, but i have a few more questions...

I like the idea of a cutout, but what are the gains with stock exhaust manifold/stock catback exhaust?

Also if you have a cutout as one of the 1st mods, do you have to get a tune?

you dont need a tune for a cutout.. as for the gains i couldnt tell you what they would be no stock manifold and exhaust. you could do a search for that there are pages and pages listing peoples gains.. But on a stock catback you will notice a lot more between opened and closed then you would on a good aftermarket catback. I couldnt tell you the real gains tho. 10hp is what i hear the most but every car/exhaust is different. hope that helped some.. also you might feel like its slower because your low end will not be as strong (if you even notice) thats because the difference in back pressure bumps your powerband up and youll feel it more in the upper RPMS

The LS1 doesn’t rely as much on backpressure as a 4 banger does. In our cars its more about the exhaust velocity. In my opinion i dont think you will feel like you have lost that much low end.

With a cutout you dont need a tune. I run mine with stock manifolds and cats. I think with the stock exhaust 10hp is reachable.
