How to get off a frozen exhaust bolt on cat flange?
This is actually on my DD Ford but one of the 2 bolts holding the front of the cat to the collectors is snapped (both ends of the bolt still stuck in the flanges though while the other bolt is frozen. This gives me a huge exhaust leak down there. I tried snapping the one bolt left yesterday w/ my torque wrench but the head started to strip. I was using a 12-point socket (didn't have a 6-pt). How do you guys recommend I get this damn thing off? I don't care if I break the bolt since I will end up drilling out the old broken bits and using new bolts. I just don't want to strip the head and be screwed. Would it help to use a little propane torch and heat it up like crazy and then try turning it?

You can also try this new product from CRC, its called something like "Freeze Off", you spray it on the stuck part and its supposed to "freeze" it temporarily so that you can break it loose. Have yet to try it though.

I thought about renting a sawzall but I can't see the blade fitting between the 2 flanges very well. I guess I could try cutting off the bolt but it's a large head on one end and the big nut on the other end so that would be difficult too. Maybe I'll try the propane torch and heat the **** out of it and get me a 6 point and just beat the hell out of it until it snaps. The bolt is so rusted that the exposed threads at the end of the bolt flake off when touched!
