Default taking out the cats

If i do take my cats off my engine light will go one right? If i d/c the battery for 30 secs will the SES light go off? I don't have to worry about passing any smog.

If you are getting rid of the cats you will have to delete the rear o2 sensors from the computer or get some o2 sims to avoid a ses light .

Yeah, resetting anything will not cause them to go off. You are going to either have to get the simms or have someone with a dealer license to HPtuners/EFI Live/LS1edit shut them off. That is around 50-75$ depending on where you go. I would do that over buying the simms any day. But I think I have a spare set that I plan on selling if you have no where to go to have the codes shut off.
