Default Jet Hot y-pipe quality -- Look!

Is this normal? I've checked out the pictures of the TSP y-pipe on ls1sounds.com and their particular joint looks waay better than mine.

What bothers me is that this is looking in the direction the exhaust is supposed to flow. Just a tad restricted? Should I bring this to an exhaust shop to be ground out a little better? Thanks!

I had to grind on the inside of my TSP merge alitte. But it was no where near that nasty. I would get in there with a die grinder or something.

I don't have anything long enough. Not exactly sure what to do other than bring it somewhere. I just posted to make sure I wasn't wrong in thinking it wasn't right. It's a little dissapointing. I wouldn't have expected such poor quality from a $400 y pipe (including cats)

But atleast it's not a big wall inside the pipe. imagine what the air's gonna think? I'm just dissapointed they'd stop right there then sell the part.

in my dealings with large companys must are only concerned with making profits because us, as consumers do not do anything to show that we are unsatisified. Posting is a good start, secondly better business bureau just to level a compliant, and finally if you savage enough start a movement against the company for making faulty products. Personally I think that jet hot makes great products, but their y-pipe is their weakness try calling and asking them if you sent in your y-pipe if they would fix it for ya

I've considered calling them and asking them to fix it. But the problem is...I can't wait any longer. My car's been down too long and it's pissing me off. I'll just put it on the way it is. Somewhere down the road maybe get a better y. What I want to do is atleast call them and let them know I'm dissapointed and plan on buying another product. See what they have to say about that. Thanks for all you're inputs guys! Really appreciate it!

Well, since it's already October, I would throw it in the car as is and drive that thing. You can deal with it over the winter or in the spring.

grind it down with a dremel or something and put it on the car, that's normal, unless you have the flowmaster Ymerge.

I called jet hot and they're sending me a new one. I sent it 2nd day air COD. Hopefully I get the new one soon so I can get my car back together. I felt bad doing it but what the hey, wasn't my fault they sent me a faulty product!

Never feel bad in situations like this....you spent HARD EARNED MONEY for a product that should perform as expected.

You paid for a product, not for substandard work.

Hard to make out with all those blue reflections but mine
was pretty nasty inside.

I used a flex-shaft head with a 1/4" shank stone to hog
it back flush, put the head down a piece of shop-vac
tube to get a straight lever. Took a good while. Some
stones lasted minutes.

At the time I also has a TSP ORY that was pretty similar
in the amount of stick-in. Probably any of 'em that try to
get by with a "T" saddle type junction are going to be
that way, with fit-up slop.

The Jet hot y-pipe is a piece of crap. Horrible merge which causes major turbulance and rasp. Mine broke in half. Got a custom y-piple made with a nice merge and it completely changed the sound of my exhaust. I'd get rid of it and have a custom one made.

hmm. How much would a custom y cost? I'm going to install the one I have - because I have it. If I don't like it, I may go the custom route. But are there any other y's that don't create rasp as some claim? Also, it's an LED flashlight shining in the other end. It's the only way I could light it up inside so you guys could see what I was talking about. Thanks guys.

Can't remember how much I paid but I don't believe it was much more than $200 for a custom Y. The merge and bends though are perfect. Really made a difference. If you know someone who does such work or can weld ask them if they'd be willing to make one for you.
