does running an open cut out make your cat go bad? If so would the dealer fix it even if I have a cut out or does that voild the warrenty?

its just like a catback. Why do people post what they "hear" as answers? They couldn't just void your warranty anyway, they would have to prove that is what caused your failed part(i.e. blaming a cutout for a broken maf sensor...covered under warranty or running n2o and killing your engine not covered)

OK when it comes down to the warrenty its ALL up to the dealer and how big of dicks they want to be, if they really want to they could void the warrently b/c of the cutout. I had a friend who had a BRAND NEW nissan and our local nissan dealer is a bunch of dicks, and said ANY aftermarket parts that werent from nissan would completly void the warrently. But I really dont see how a cutout would cause a 02 senser to go bad

Do you know for sure that the cat is "bad", or are you just
seeing a catalyst efficiency code? The air from cutouts,
even just reversion, may fool the sensor and nothing real
may be wrong.

I have a cutout in the i pipe under the passenger seat like most. I threw a p0420 code and it was the cat, i capped the cutout and brought it in, replaced the cat and no more code. This was here in Montreal, but i had to fight for it, they tried to claim my o2 wasn't responding so they couldnt go any farther, i made them bring out a tech with a tech 2 and told him to come with me and whadda know? the o2s are fluctuating like they should be and he said, i wasn't the tech working on your car and i said, its cool and he told the service manager and the french dude basically tried kissing my *** after we got into it and he was wrong.
