Default LS6 Intake install

Well, I almost wrapped up my LS6 intake install today. The only thing I have left to do is to tighten the bolts, and put the lid, maf, and tb back on. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and fortunately I did not break the oil pressure sending unit. I guess my technique of removing the intake did work well. I put my arm completely under it, so that it was evenly supported and moved it out enough to get the clip off the sensor and the vacuum line off. After that, it slid right out. It took me about 3 hours to get done what I did today. I guess I'll have about 30 more minutes to go tomorrow. A word of advice, have a 1/4 drive set, 3/8 drive set, and a lot of short extensions. Some times my extensions were too long and I found out that a 3/8 drive ratchet along with a 3/8 to 1/4 inch adapter worked well for removing the bolts under the cowl. If you can find a deep well 8mm socket for a 1/4 drive, it will be your friend. Trust me.

I've been looking at replacing my intake with the LS6 as well. What kind of power gains are there just from replacing the intake alone on a fairly stock motor? I'm either going to do that, or find a ported LS6 setup.

I did some basic searching, but man...sorting through all the BS just to find that info is a pain.

ls6 intake doesnt show huge peak power gains till you go with boltons and cam...

for a near stock motor it will yield more on the whole curve gains and a like 5-8rwhp peak

I got it buttoned up today. Took about 30 minutes to finish up. Lets say I felt a big difference . I didn't know it would be this much. From 4000 rpms to the redline it pulls alot harder than it did. The runners in the ls1 intake aren't enough for the upper rpms. If you haven't done this mod, I strongly suggest it. Not hard at all to do and definately worth the money. I guess a pulley will be the next thing on my list and a dyno tune.

Instead of pulling the clip and hose off of the oil sending unit just take it off the brake booster line/master cylinder and feed it back up through.

This is the method I was told and after seeing where the oil sending unit is located this is what I will do.
