Default 160 thermostat for a 06 5.3l truck?

A friend of mine got a custom tune for his 06 silverado. They went ahead and set the fans as if he had a 160 thermostat. Now he can't find any vendors that have a 160 for a 06 truck. Is his thermostat the same as the ones in Ls1 cars? where does he need to go to get one?

He doesnt need to get one. He will be running too cool to make all the power it should be. I would stick with the stocker and have the fans be programmed to kick on around 190°.

If it was me that is what I would do, however he has already had his fans programed and he is stuck on getting a 160. just trying to find one for him. I have a 160 in my car and I set the fans so that it would run around 190. Like I say I am just trying to find the part for him.

I put the 160 in during the time I was starting to learn about the ls motors. That was about the time i put the smoothe bellows, k&n filter, ant he loudmouth on the hawk. Guess we all have to live and learn.

160 t-stats are good. Tbyrne has the 04+ newer style tstats the cheapest that I've seen. Part # 100228, $18.99. http://www.tbyrne.com/truckcatalog.html
