I have a 99 T/A and just bought a used LS6 intake and was wondering what was all needed for the swap.

Any help at all would be appreciated

Front coolant pipe, coolant plugs for the rear, new gaskets (JMO). There's a writeup at www.ls1howto.com

don't listen to these guys Dan, i used the grey gaskets and they worked just fine. I bought the front coolant pipe and plugs from a GM dealer down here in Lincoln, so you can probably just get em from H&H up there. I used the writeup on www.ls1howto.com

Do you need to tune after the install?

it would be a waste of money if you plan on adding more parts in the future.

Coolant Lines, and plugs. Have an assortment of short extensions, deep well sockets, 1/4" drive and 3/8" drive. A 8mm gear wrench will be your friend. If you don't have one, I highly recommend buying one. Reuse the grey gaskets off your ls1 intake. Thats what I did and didn't have a problem at all. Good luck with your swap. Be VERY CAREFUL removing it. You can break the oil pressure sending unit easily.

Who cares if you break the one on the LS1 intake unless you plan on selling it.

I say be careful with the LS6 intake.

i believe he was talking about the oil pressure sending unit, not the intake itself.

One thing ive been wondering is, why not use a crossover pipe in the rear like on the front? i've seen some people who run 2 front pipes, one on the front and one on the rear instead of plugging the rear, is this better? It seems like it would distribute coolant better between the heads. I always thought plugging off the rear kinda seemed like a rigged up setup. Is that how the cars are done that come with the LS6 intake stock? I would figure GM wouldn't just plug something off like that.

You can run a front coolant pipe on the rear, but would have to seal it. Haven't had mine off, but according to the PN's it's just plugged.

The hell with the coolant plugs, just use the existing coolant lins and use a grinder on the bottom of the manifold and grind down the ridges in the area where the coolant lines are. As long as you dont grind into the manifold body itself it will be fine. Save yourself the $50.
