Default 98 LS1 to LS6 PCV Conversion...

Hello All,
I'm currently right in the middle of doing and LS6 PCV and Intake swap on my 98... I'm following this guide:

http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=18

The problem I'm having is where the PCV attatches to the drivers side valve cover... My "grommet" looks different than the one in the guide, it seems to be hard plastic with a hard plastic tube sticking up that the hose pushes on to...

The little plug that came with my LS6 valley cover doesn't fit inside the tube... Has anyone tried removing that tube and using the plug in hard plastic grommet?

Or should I just go get a vacuum cap from the parts store and cap the tube off?
