Don't know about power gains, but my car always ran 200-210 deg., then I wrapped the headers on advice of a friend, now engine runs at 170-180 deg.. So for cooling alone I think it is worth it.

they help channel the heat away from the engine, I will be wrapping mine soon!

I hear that the wrap eats up your headers.
I have no idea if this is true are not.

Header wrapping was popular back when I was a young man. It will cause your headers to rust pretty quickly. I don't know why I just remember seeing a lot of rusted headers. That was why it never caught on with the steet crowd.

i had wrapped my headers yrs ago, i even painted them before i wrapped them. it is a good idea but not for a street car. i dont think my headers lasted more than a year. so if you have a dd dont do it.
