no, no, not that one. not that big black box right on the firewall. thats also my heater and i want to keep it. the thing im talkin about comes out of that box and is shaped kinda like an oval. its approx 3" tall x 2" wide. has two big holes for the ac lines and two threaded holes for the bolts. its made of aluminum. there was a short hose that ran from this to the accumulator. i would make my own block off plate but the only problem is, there are two pieces of short pipe coming out of this little piece (approx 1/2" long) thats keeping me from just putting a flat block off plate on there.

does that make sense? i tried to explain the best i could

make a block of plate , then cut it so the two tube fit through the plate then weld two tubes onto the plate longer and wider then the ones sticking out, then all you need is two more flat circle peices.. be alil bit of welding and might look alil wierd but it should block it off good.

FWIW GM had an option where you could get heat, but no AC. They even made an evaporator housing (black box) without the AC stuff in it. It sat flat with the firewall. This was common on a lot of the ILE LT1 cars.

Nice tidbit D. I didn't know that it was an option.
