Default Whats the point of this exhaust setup????

So "Joe Shmoe" goes to work and sets up true dual exhaust on his ride. Good boy Joe. Then after the cat converter theres a pipe connecting the two exhaust pipes. So why even make it duals all the way back? Why not just go with two pipes after the muffler and save some time and money?

do you mean an X or h pipe ? From my understanding they equealize the flow and it does make more power. Some say the H pipe sounds better than the X. I do know it will sound better if you have an X or H rather than nothing a few posts down there is a guy talking about how his car sounds with out an X or H check that out if you havent already

I guess I mean an H pipe. But thats what I dont understand. If its there to equalize the exhaust, cant you achieve the same thing in the muffler, and save the trouble? All the H pipe is doing really is moving the point of transfer further back. Right?

You want that point close to the engine tho. It is not a waste at all.
