Default Slp Maf...help

I just got a slp maf from a member on the site. It came w/ the harness and tube. I put it on and it will not fit my lid. I did a search and from what I can tell and was thinking I have to bore the outlet on the lid or can I just use the old tube to connect the lid to the maf. I want make sure I do it right. Thanks

It should have come with a bellow to connect the MAF to the lid. Then, you use your existing bellow to connect to the throttle body. Check the side of the MAF where the arrows point towards the engine and say "FLOW" to make sure you have it facing the right direction.

The one I got is curved w/ a bubble in it. Is that the wrong one for it? It came off a vette.

You mean like this???

If so, that's what connects the back side of the MAF to the throttle body. You need something like the tubing in the first pic to connect the MAF to the lid (as well as two clamps).

Yes sir! That's is the one. I had that one on the back of it already. I am just missing the front bellow for it. Where can I get my hands on one. Or can I use the old one for the rear in the mean time?

Local hardware store or maybe http://www.boostcontroller.com/index.php?category=34 (Google'd). The old one from the back might work as a temp. replacement. Just measure the outside diameter of the MAF and lid. I think a 3"-diameter piece is what you need. Then you just cut it to length.

Thanks SSpdDmon. I Knew something was wrong when I saw how much bigger it was. Not having another bellow and the old one went into the outlet miss lead me. BTW is this even a good mod. I got a HSW kit sitting in the garage and want to cam it. What would be a good path for me w/ n20 as the power adder. I see u have some nice numbers that is why I ask?

I'd start a new thread about N2O cams...not exactly my area of expertise. My numbers are N/A with P&P'd 241 heads and a 232/238 cam.

Dude...we get your opinion. He's already got the part. It's up to him - he can sell it or use it. It sounds like he wants to use it. No need to keep going with the whole "it's shitty" theme. Not everyone has the time, bank, nor the patience you and I have to tune our cars in SD. Not to mention, SD only really benefits those who max out their MAFs from 10+lbs of boost.

I was thinking the same thing. If you dont like the MAF thats fine but you dont have to keep posting about it

SLP MAF's suck. Just get rid of the SLP and stick with the stocker. All the SLP does anyway is trick the PCM into running leaner. They are calibrated all weird which is where the problems come from. They are a waste and can help lead to lean issues and knocking problems.

he specificly asked in a second post whether it was thought that the SLP MAF was a good mod. no it is not. sell it and use the money to have your car fully tuned with LT headers, have all polution controls and 02s delted along with having a SD tune performed
