Default LS6 into 98 a4

Hi

Any one know what I will need to do to put the GM LS6 long block crate motor that comes with the Camaro oil pan into my 98 A4. Can I swap over accessories, wiring, manifolds, etc? Will it work with the 98 computer?

Thanks JA.

Yes it will, been there done that my friend. The main difference is the cam and heads but the blocks are supossed to be better. All you need is the time and the tools to do it and whan I say the tools I mean hand tools and things like that.

why are you swapping long blocks? All you need is the heads, ls6 intake and ls6 cam kit..and your set for about 5-5.5k less than what the crate motor cost.

Hi

Not that much lesss. I priced that route out with a local spped shop. There is not alot of support in my area. The parts were well over 3k before labor. Also, a crate motor means new stuff in the bottom. You do have a valid point though.

3k for a long block that is a ls6..or for the ls6 heads and cam? if you paid that much jsut for heads and a cam kit..your insane. If you got the whole engine for that much...it was a good deal. summit sells a ls1 to ls6 conversion..which is expensive for wehat it should cost, but they charge 2200 for everything that you would need.

Wouldn't the money be spent better with different heads/cam and a tune? The price of LS6 stuff doesn't seem to justify the power you get, compared to better aftermarket parts

Hi

I will check out summit. I am in canada so I have to add exchange, shipping, dutie, GST and PST. 2 grand becomes 3 grand pretty quick.

If you are swapping blocks why not go LS2 or just go all the way with a 408?

Hi

Can I get an LS2 to work with my 98 computer? I also have a government scan and sniffer test to deal with.

Thanks JA
