Default 2 mod ? pulley / sensor

hello, does a pulley cause the car to run hotter at idle? thinking about slp 25% underdrive or the asp crank & alt pulley. with my ls6 cam and a4 my car idles at 700 rpm (between 6&7). i'm just worried on a hot july summer day it will run to hot. currently i have a 160 therm however the factory gauge needle stays on the 2 of the 210 mark. mail order tune was suppose to adjust for the therm and the fans do come on earlier than before tune. part 2 a catalog had an AIR TEMP SENSOR for $25 bucks that plugs in and tricks the pcm to give max or an increase slighly in timing with out turning off the knock sensor. is this a gimmick or does it work? thanks! dan

That's a good question and I would also like to know.

Starting in 1999, the water temp gauge was redesigned. It works basically as a dummy gauge and will only show an overheating condition. So even if your car was running cooler, you would never know.
