stock 75mm MAF chokes 90/90??? COME IN
I know this has been brought up before, but a decisive answer was never produced..
If I have a 90/90 set up, theoretically won't a 75mm MAF limit the 90/90's optimal performance?? Like a bottle neck?
I will opt for the 85mm Z06 MAF, but not if I dont have to..
Thanks
Erik

Of course it will. Just like a non-ported 75 mm throttle body will be a bottleneck. A 85 mm MAF is going to be more free-flowing.
Btw, don't just get a straight Z06 MAF, get the CALIBRATED 85mm zo6 MAF from PACE, otherwise the tuning tables are not going to line up correctly (trust me, I know ).
Keep in mind the lid is going to be a bottleneck first, and there is only one company I know of that makes an 85mm lid.

you are going to have to have your car tuned anyways, just have it SD tuned and save yourself the hastle of finding another MAF, not to mention the hundreds of dollars you would save.

when doing a tune some tuners charge more for SD, some dont. mine didnt.
my car is bone *** stock. i have a tune with no 02s and no MAF.
i daily drive my car, (30,000 miles last year) and i drive it year round in Indiana. the only issue with SD tune is that sometimes on cold mornings (like below freezing) the cars RPMs vary and a couple of times it has died. but it starts right back up and then is fine. im glad i did it and im going to do it on my LS1 swapped car.

I believe when Jason tested it on his car, he had only picked up a difference that was small enough just to be dyno variation, like 1-2 hp. I had the 85mm MAF on my car, had to swap it out back to the stocker for a few days to let someone borrow the big one, and I honestly noticed nothing different.

While I don't know if I gained 16 HP by getting rid of the MAF in the intake, I even noticed a difference going from my 85mm piece to a straight through bellows (made using 4" exhaust pipe)...I think there's definitely something to be had with it. Hell...I had 90% injector duty cycle on stock injectors with nothing more than bolt-ons (stock internal engine), so it obviously wanted fuel to accompany the air that was coming in.
