every bit helps, especially if you seal the airbox to the hood. it would take a lot of rain to cause any problems other than a wet filter if you use an oiled type like a K&N

what about the baffles in the lid? If they are grinded out and sanded smooth, would it perform like an aftermarket lid?

If you smooth out the inside of your stock lid and lose the baffles, it will be just like an aftermarket lid.

A lid is a lid, is a lid, etc...

Just bough an extra lid. Im gonna try and smooth it out. Im tired of my slp lid rubbing my hood. My tsp clear lid cracked to like 4 peices. Dont know if I wanna try another aftermarket lid

If you dont want a lid, try a Volant CAI. i have that with my BGRA and it works great.

OHHH the LID baffles, i thought you meant the ones in th hood. **** that. aftermarket lids dont have the bottleneck opening in the back to the MAF sensor. theya re smooth, hold more air and look better.
