im guessing your talking about the driver side instead of the passenger side as the driver side cat comes off the manifold. if you have less than 80k miles on your ride you can go to your local GM dealer and get a free replacement

i just turned 86k. i read that on here though. kinda sweet deal just not for me. but there is a guy local who is going to sell me a used cat. i just wanted to know what size sockets and different extension and **** to get out or borrow if i dont have them. i take it a 6 point socket is going to be best and i have mostly 12 point sockets. this has got to be an easy question for anyone who swapped for long tubes. any help would be great. and yes it is the driver side cat i will be replacing.

hey big you should need just a few simple tools to remove the cat. I am thinking somewhere around a 15mm range just take a few sockets and you should be good. when i took mine apart it came apart easy the bolts were not froze. good luck!

Confirmed, you need a 15mm deep well socket, and borrow an assortment of extensions while you're at it!

You got screwed... the dealership should have warrantied them up to 80k, I had one replaced at 48k and know problem! Go back and complain and get your money back, that's what I would do.
