Default How do I shut up my exhaust without losing power?

Alright guys, the people in my new neighborhood have been looking at me like I am the Antichrist when I roll by in my car. They all drive BMW's, Mercedes, G35's and other crap and my car seems to seriously hurt the fragile sensibilities. So I need to tone it down......maybe. Since the heads/cam the car sounds like it runs on thunder and lightning, especially around 2000-2500. The problem is after 3 grand it sings the song of angels (the ones from down below), and I don't want to lose it. I don't want to chop up the stainless GMMG, and I don't want to lose power. Are there any resonators, or bullet mufflers I can put in the y-pipe that won't impede flow? Or anyone have any other ideas on what would quite it down without losing power? If not, then my neighbors will have to adjust.

Go here and check these out: http://www.torquetechexh.com/powersticks.htm

Throw one in your I-pipe(the longer it is the better) and you will still have that nice chambered sound with some reduction in tone until you go WOT of course.

You could put a bullet muffler in the i-pipe, but it would mean cutting the GMMG or you could add cats. Maybe even sell it and buy a different catback.

I've been thinking about getting a GMMG catback. You got any interest in a Magnaflow catback? I've only had it six months. I think it's too quiet and my car has headers, no cats, and a cam too.

If I did dump the GMMG I would definitley go true duals. My friend just gave me the idea to add bullets to the Y-Pipe where cats would normally be, and maybe it would help also passing the soon-to-be visual emmisions test, with them lookin like cats in there. I thought of putting sweet thunders or power stick in the I-pipe that were stainless. But the inner diameter is too small. I guess I will try the bullets in the Y-pipe, if I don't like it I'll spend some coin to do true duals or back to the ORY.

It aint happening. Anything you add to the exhaust will cause a power loss somewhere in the RPM range. Cutouts are your best bet, or move, or just ignore the neighbors, or just let them deal with it.

I would agree with lilbuddy1587. You can also check out eadperformance.com. They carry the Classic Chambered Powersticks AND Powerpacks. Both of which have a 3" inside diameter pathway.

"(Note: 3" units do neck down to a little more than 2.5" right now)"

This is a quote from http://www.torquetechexh.com/powersticks.htm.

So Sweet Thunders are really no different, as they are a 3" outer with a 2-1/2" inner.

Look at the inside of the SW compared to the CC.

Get some true duals and just make them go deaf and not worry about it and pick up some more hp and a better sound.....

But for quieting it down, Hooker or Magnaflow, unless you go cut outs, but you lose some low end tq.
