Slip fit merge collectors... options I recently had the Edelbrock vic series headers put on with he slip fit merger collectors and y. well of course, there leaking at hte merge's and the y i think. I remember reading someone used aluminum foil or aluminum tape as a sealant in these areas??? i can't seem the find the thread, i'm just wondering if i have any other options other than having them welded and ruining the ti-tech coating...

I've found that doubling over some aluminum foil to make a 2" strip about 10" long and like 8 layers thick makes a nice FREE deadsoft gasket. You can wrap it around a slip fit then put a band clamp over it, then tighten the **** out of the clamp.

thanx man, i will have to try that out. did you have any trouble with the foil ripping up when you were putting the collectors back on?
