Default Exhaust ticking

A couple of weeks ago i installed Pacesetter LT with a TSP offroad Y. The problem I am having is a loud ticking noise coming from the passenger side, mainly underneath the door.
I have retorqued everything and cannot hear the ticking under the hood so i have ruled out bad gaskets (have gm stock gaskets)

I have searched and some say it could be bad pushrods or just loud valvetrain. I cannot hear it on the driverside or from inside.
I hope someone can help me or just help rule some things out.

did you buy new gaskets or re-use your stock ones?

it is normal to notice a little more valvetrain noise after headers cuz of the thinner walls of the primaries.

Yeah, since you just messed with the exhaust your are either not used to the new sound or there is a leak that needs a special tweek made to the pipes or collectors.

if it is because of thinner primaries should the ticking sound also be on the drivers side.
I have done everything short of remove the headers to try and track this problem down.

Can it be a bad weld in the primaries collect at.

you didnt use the paper gaskets that come with the pacesetters did you??

if you did that could be your problem because those things are terrible....if you used metal ones then it is probably nothing since i have heard that putting on headers can make a tick noticable

Mine ticks too after header install. It only ticks and sounds weard when i go wot at low rpm's but once i pass 3500 it goes away or i cant hear it anymore. I have tried everything to find out where it could be coming from but nothing is leaking or making any black marks. I think that the long tubes just tick a little. Unless someone else knows something.

You will never ever get rid of the tick. I've been fighting it for 2 years. I've gone so far as to pull the heads and replace the lifters.

This place used to be called LS1tick.com

I was worried the past few weeks about the ticking, But its coming from under the engine and not from the top so i figured it was a leak. But at this point im going to go with what you say...

Mine sounds loudest if I get down behind the driver side front tire. Used to make me want to drive off a cliff. Now I just open the cutout and I can't hear a thing.

I can hear it most under the passengers side by the header... I can only really hear it at idle and lower speeds...then the 1 chamber drowns the sound out

Hey if the slip fits on your y-pipe are leaking then do this. It fixed my problem.

I had 3 leaks on my tsp ORY. All where it slip fits together and one where it slip fits onto the driver's side header. I knew there was a leak there because of the carbon deposits on the collector. I got some header wrap and 3" band clamps.

Cut a piece of header wrap long enough to wrap around the pipe once. Nothing more. Then put the band clamp on it and clamp it down. This will seal it.

Do this on the y-pipe and where the y-pipe slips fits on the collector.

ya there's gotta be a leak in your exhaust... go re-check it.
obviously if you didn't have a tick before you swapped your exhaust.... well that rules out everything except, well, your exhaust

Check to make sure all of your spark plugs are on tight. I had the ticking for like a year and thought it was a header leak. I took out all my spark pugs, checked them, and reinstalled them making sure they were all in tight. The tick is gone.
