Default Sheet Metal Intakes Who?

i have an iron block stroker with FMS/meaux solid roller 317's. im in the market for an intake and TB and have been for months now, i cant make up my mind. ive ruled OUT carb style but i want more than the FAST can offer. In come SHEET METAL INTAKES.

old intake setup has been 10.18 at 132 with a ls6 intake and BBK 80MM
My goal: improve that as much as i can with out having to use a power adder.

what I really want to know:

-Who can make me one

-what would they need to make one for me

-guesstimate on cost i know there wont be concrete pricing but i want to know if im out of my league pricing wise.

-any examples

-who would you reccomend

Beck is going to be the most reccomended. They will custom make the intake to your needs. Not real sure on the pricing, but I'd say $2500-$3500 depending on whats done to it.

Call Alan @ FMS he can design it for you and Beck can build it.

thanks just left a message for him, does anyone know what specs typically would be needed to design something like this?

If you're going to change the intake, look at changing the cam and headers too for maximum performance gains.

Hogans, Weinle, Wilson, and CFE, are all good choices too. They do range from 2000.oo and up.

I think you might see some pretty impressive gains if you got somebody to make you one. Especially over a FAST Setup. Like stated above, Beck comes to mind first.

Beck builds really nice stuff, he is building one for my LS7 right now. Only lives about 4 miles from me, so I get to stop in once in a while.

nice head numbers for a small block. but you did say that you were not going to use power adders right? and these aftermarket intakes should easily take care of the flow for your heads. So I guess I am the lone vote that the sheet metal is overkill.

on my simple 382 all bore, with are stage 3 heads(don't know the flow till monday) with a 242/250 612/619 on a 114LSA, i went:

~118mph w/ a 78mm LSX and Kook's 1 7/8 headers
~123mph w/ Beck Sheetmetal and TPIS 90mm and Hooker 1 3/4 headers

that's the two biggest changes. I'd have to say that the weather was better on the 118mph run as well.

now this is a simple motor, no big setups, and a motor tune for 118 vs. a nitrous tune(24* timing) for the 123mph.

The intake is HUGE for my needs, but the results proved it worked.

Open TP wtih the 90mm setup vs. a ram air and MTI lid with the fast setup too

This is Pro Stock John's intake he let me try since we were both wondering if it'd work out.

So i spoke with alan today, after talking about the cam 262/268 and 4.11 gear currently in the car the ported fast 90 is going to be my best option for now...im looking to step up the setup later for next season..the ported 90 from FMS will have to do for now. thanks for everyone's input and to anyone looking to have a sheetmetal intake designed give Alan at FMS a call he's very knowledgable and a super nice guy!
