I'd wonder what fittings those shorties have. Given they are short headers to carry a CARB exemption, right ???, they probably have AIR and EGR fittings because 98-00 have both systems. So my guess is you'd have to block off the EGR system because your car doesn't have it.

It meets all the criteria cheap..better than stock and legal..
Im looking at using shorties..in conjunction with a Bassini X system and my FIPK.....In inhale and exhale all freed up..and legal
toss in a CheatTR Cam...and a tune...step up to a set of 3.90's
Im good to go!
But so..Cop Car...can I use them or not...

you say X-Pipe?
.... not legal either bro (if your going no cats) if so... you will need them in the stock locations but sometimes that's even hesitant
'02 manifolds were the better flowing manifolds and your gonna seriously see MINIMAL gains if that
...and yes you'd have to block off the EGR provision on the passenger side manifold

hey thanks....Yeah..Im bolting to the stock down tubes..not touching the cats (except to bolt up the JBA's)
Then using the Bassani X pipe from Vinci to a two in two out full sized muffler...Just trying ito maxamixe the cars ability to breath
some of us just want to be 100% legal, so i can understand this question its not worth dealing with the police for 40 hp max

Yes they will fit and work. I have to agree with Cop Car though, you won't gain **** with a set of shorties. It's not worth the time or money to go that route. I went from stock exhaust to longtubes, ory, and a free flowing catback and only gained ~15rwhp/18rwtq. After the tune it was more, but I would be willing to bet those shorties wouldn't net 5rwhp.

My overall plan is somthing like:
True Dual system with over the axel into a double in double out muffler
JBA or Stock headers
Port and Polish the TB
OldMan or 224/224 cam
Underdrive pulley
and a set of 3.90s (Im into road racing so 4.10 are too steep)
Tune the mother
Then drive it like I stole it!

for the record, shorties don't outperform the manifolds because of just flow. they scavenge better. even if stock manifolds flow exactly the same as shorties, the shorties will STILL perform better because they're longer and flow better. i hate it when people say horsepower is gained by longtubes because of flow. that's so not true. nearly all the horsepower gained from longtubes is because of SCAVENGING, NOT FLOW.
the only time it's reasonable to get shorties is in california, and he lives in california, so it's a viable option. to the OP: look into edelbrock shorties, also. they're CARB legal i believe. they may be a better deal.

OK to answer your question Yea they WILL fit but the headers will have the emmission hookups in different locations. The headers will also have a tube for the EGR and your a 2002 so you dont have an EGR just little things but they will fit on the car,
