Default Installed the LS6 Intake Sunday

Well my boyfriend did while I drove to PA to see my mom who just got out of the hospital. He did an excellent job and I'm very happy. It does feel it has more HP and I love it . It sure cleans up the engine bay without all that EGR/Air crap which I threw in the dumpster yesterday. Tim said it was pretty dirty under the stock intake as you can see from the pics. If the weather stays nice this weekend like it's suppose to I'll clean off some of the other stuff that is now visible. I know it's not like most of the members here all nice and fancy but it's a DD and hard to keep it clean

Also he's going to disconnect the air pump which is making a loud whistling noise . Its so loud you can hear it over the engine. At first I thought it was the serpentine belt which may have got coolant on it but we changed it and figured out its the air pump.

Damn that looks great. Did you paint it yourself or did it come that way?

Thanks for the compliments . I painted it myself a couple weekends ago when it was 70°....lucky to have that weather in November!

As far as the noise...it does it the whole time...high pitched whistling and its coming from where the airpump is. When he had the hood up last night I could barely stand the sound of it...so ear piercingly high!

You can pull the fuse if you want to kill it now.

Also my stock thermostat has been acting up so I ordered a 160° yesterday from Maryland Speed and it's here already. Have to wait till the weekend to install it.

is it throwing a code now that you dont have the EGR anymore,if so does that code affect the way the car runs,i'd like to know the same about the Air pump. I'm about to install a LS6 intake and do headers w/out emissions at the same time and i wont be able to get a tune done right away so i'd like to know if it makes the car run crappy or what while i have these codes, sorry, didnt mean to hijack, the intake looks GREAT!

Sorry I forgot to add that I will be having it tuned out as soon as money permits which should be within the month. I have headers too...SLP LT's and my SES light has been on for for 2 years now...almost 3 so I cant tell if it is throwing a code. My boyfriend installed headers on a friend's 98 TA a few weeks ago and removed EGR etc the same as mine and his car has been running ok but it should be tuned out like you said.

Oh and TheBlurLS1....we didnt even think of that I'll do that when I get home. Thanks

Nice job painting the intake. I did silver myself and it really stands out. Definitie SOTP feel over the LS1 intake also.

Hmm. I'd yank the pump and stuff out the bottom, it only takes a few minutes. Just remove one of the underbody plastic panels behind the driver side blinker, then undo the 3-4 bolts holding the pump in. You'll have to disconnect the weatherpack connector from it and pull her out.

If it's still doing it, than it's something else lol.

Sounds like a good idea but we wont have time till Saturday or Sunday . Even with my stereo up this morning at mid-level I could hear it. Of course I have very sensitive hearing

Thanks. I just used Ahdesion promotor, primer filler and auto paint all by Duplicolor. I did my interior the same way 3 years ago. The primer filler really makes a difference!
