Default 99 stock manifolds to 2000+ manifolds

Okay, so, here I am thinking...........again. I am about to get a 99 for a good deal with a jasper rebuild in her that has 1k miles on the engine. Since, as I know it so far, I can not go long tubes for fear of failing visual emissions, would it be worth it to put on some 2000+ manifolds? What kind of increase would I expect? I have heard they are close to shorties, so, that would be??? Also, you can always scrounge a decent deal on ebay, but, whats the max $$ I should put out for them? Not gonna pay $300 for something that gives me 5hp, lol. Just curious as to the forums insight and opinions, thanks.

do even bother swaping out your '99 manifolds just for some '01-02's.... if your gonna swap anything and and need to stay emissions legal then shorties is your answer

...with shorties and a dead on tune you should expect anywhere from 10-15rwhp over your '99 manifolds

Yea, I hear ya. I was thinking if I could pick up a set for $25, a weekend playing around swapping them for 5 hp, would be cool, but, if the stocks wont net me anything, then, your right.

Check out Mac's website. They sell an off road y pipe for the stock 98-99 manifolds. I'd keep the manifolds you got and just get the ory and change that for inspections. The Y pipe's not to hard to change periodically.

If you change out for the different manifolds the emmission lines wont match up

but either ways there's your hookup if you do decide to go the cheaper route...

are the '00's the same as teh '01-'02's with just an EGR provision?

Well, I need a new egr anyways and people are always plucking thiers off, so, thats about all I would need then after the manifolds, ehy?

maybe then gut the cats, maybe weld a stright pipe in there, or, just get flange crazy and have two sets of pipes. One for inspection and one home built Y that has one 3" cat where they used to put them back in the day so I am still running clean. With flanges all around, would be a breeze to swap back and forth when needed.

And if you get manifolds off a 01-02 they wont have an EGR fitting on them, only the 2000 revised manifolds had them
