my guess is either your headers or y-pipe are banging something, either the k-member or the underside of the body. when u accelerate, the motor twists and thus, the headers/y-pipe rub on the other components underneath. its very common after a header/y-pipe swap. what y pipe are u running?

Yep, there are a few fixes for this, i'd probably go with the rubber hose and band clamp mod.

I assure you, unless you forgot to install your springs on your car, the headers are not rubbing on the ground. What you are feeling is the y-pipe contacting the floor board (as already eluded to). There are a couple fixes: get poly motor mounts, or do some massaging of the y-pipe (it can be bent a little out of the way).

Run a search for "ypipe banging" for information research and you should get lots of results...

Do you have Kooks Y-pipe as well? I don't have any banging whatsoever with mine and I still have the stock motor mounts. Do a search for a Mufflex bump stop. You could also use some old heater hose/clamp as stated for the short term to put between the Y and the floorboard.

That sounds like your y pipe or cat hitting the floor boards. Did you buy kooks catted y setup? I did not need any poly motor mounts with mine. They fit perfectly like they came with the car from the factory. KOOKS = GREAT HEADERS

My Kooks 3" --> 4" y-pipe touched the floorboard slightly, but I run poly mounts, which boosts the motor up a bit. I had to put a little more "crush" into mine for it to clear the floorboard on the bend in the top right corner of this pic. Just before it starts to go left, perpendicular to the 4" section....

I just had mine installed today and I’m experiencing the same thing. I’m not feeling any banging like I had with my Mac setup on my last car but more of a vibration and rubbing and idle and take off.

I have the kooks 1 7/8 with Kooks offroad (offroad will be replaced with kooks cat'd/Y when they arrive, wrong y was ordered)

Well, i ordered my poly motor mounts and will have them installed next week. I will let you know if this helps but i have to try something....headers are rubbing really bad and its starting to drive me crazy. I'm getting about 70% positive feedback that this should do the trick (was told my stock bushing were collapsed so I hope it works

My Kooks catted-Y hits the drivers side floor board frame slightly only when I nail it from a 10+ MPH roll, it almost sounds like a high RPM miss but it's not. At idle there is about 1 inch of clearance between the Y-pipe and frame. It was worse when I had first put it on a few weeks ago at about a 1/2 inch clearance. I adjusted the y pipe a few times and it went away except for the above mention condition. I think adjusting and/0r heating up the Y and bend it slightly at a muffler shop might cure your problem. Just my .02
