Default pacesetter shorty headers

how much gain will i get off shorty headers?.....i know the long tubes make a lot more power but without getting a catted y they sound like my boat.. do you think shortys are good for atleast 10 hp ??

Of course they are, if Z06 manifolds are good for 10hp, then I would guess shorty headers would be a little better.

You'll find that most will poo-poo shorties...

Heres my slant..if shorties are better than the stock..by whatever measurment..and your willing to spend the money...shorties are worth it.

Better is better..if ther is NO diffrence between shorties and stock headers..then I see no reason to make the change.

So...has anyone ever quantified that shorties DO or DONOT out perform stock headers!

I agree, if you're going to go through the trouble get LT's. Unless you're subject to visual inspections.

Not a problem...although I had a very similar argument for 5 pages a couple weeks ago.

Your take on the situation is very logical, so I'm not going to argue about this, but the difference between shorty's and stock manifolds is minuscule, worthless, probably not even measurable on a dyno.........The only way I would get shorty's is if I was going turbo; Or if they cost $10 and someone installed them for me, b/c I sure as hell wouldn't waste my time with it. I guess that's just my opinion tho...

10 rwhp is a lot to expect from shorties if you were strating with a 98 or 99. In 2000 the exhaust manifolds were improved so the gain from shorties is likely to be closer to 5HP in your case.

IMO, the case for shorties is strictly to meet visual inspection or for dress-up if you get the nice looking ones. There are numerous things that can be done to fix sound quality with L-T such as adding cats, adding a bullet muffler, or going with true duals. The HP/$ factor is much better with L-T.

you wont see 10rwhp from shorties on an otherwise stock motor if you have a 00-02

if you want some hp, gut your cats, and if you have a 98-99 F body switch manifolds to the 00+ ones.
