Default Anyone Know how to clean the MAF sensors???

I have a Granatelli MAF sensor and was wandering if anyone knew how to clean the sensors? I read something before, but dont remember. I am wandering because I use a K&N air filter and heard that the oil gets on the MAF sensors and can cause the car to idle ruff and looooooose pwr.

ThankSS,

Jonathan

You can use any non-chlorinated cleaner. CRC actuatly makes a MAF cleaner. You can buy electric parts cleaner and use that. Just make sure it states it leaves no residue. I have cured alot of engine/driveability problems cleaning the MAF.

I am against the q-tip method due to the fibers on the q-tips could get left on the wires of the MAF.

Napa has a MAF cleaner spray. Works great, cost a few bucks.

This is the important part. Any spray cleaner that leaves no residue will work just fine.

I use rubbing alcohol. The MAF sensor is one reason why I don't like the oiled filters like K&N. If there is too much oil on the filter, it will collect on the wires. On the car that I have an oiled filter, I run the shop vac through the filter after I clean it to help remove excess oil. A dirty maf will definitely cause issues.

+1 for rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. DO NOT PRESS ON THE ELEMENTS TOO HARD!
