I have been wondering what exactly it is that stops you from being able to run the "race" electric water pump on a LS1, more specifically a C5?

They are cheaper and a little lighter I do believe. Is there a cooling issue, or is there less life expectancy or what?

They don't flow as much coolant, so I'd say it would be a cooling issue. If your car is a track only car that doesn't see the street at all, get the race version. Otherwise, stick with their street pump.
