Default My stock 98 Z is quiet as a mouse

Man I was hoping it would sound a little bit mean, however this thing is quiet. I think they used a Cadillac muffler on the 98. The stock LT1s sounded more throaty is it just me or do you guys think the LS1 is not as throaty sounding as the LT1.

I love the quiet for cruising, highway rides and pulling in at home late at night.

Get a cutout. best of both worlds. and cheaper than any catback out there. I love to have the ability to close the exhaust when i'm on the freeway or when a cop is by me.

+1 for the cut-out.

Much cheaper than any catback, and it'll net you better performance than any catback. I also happen to think that cut-outs sound great through the stock manifolds and y-pipe.

That's the route I wish I had taken. My car was dead quiet stock. I could sit in the car in neutral and rev the car and not hear anything. I definitely felt the LT1's were louder. Even once I got my Magnaflow cat-back, my buddy's LT1 with a Hooker sounded louder and more pissed off. Now that I've got heads/cam LTs/ORY, I think his car is too quiet because I can barely hear it from inside the car now.

My car is too loud for just cruising on the highway or driving normally with the g/f (she has a real quiet voice). Sounds great when I'm on it (except for the rasp it has at 2500-3000RPMs), but I like to be able to be quiet when need be. Once it gets warmer outside, I plan on putting a bullet or resonator of some sorts in the I-pipe after the cut-out and seeing how that changes things.

If I had to do it all over again, right from the beginning, I'd have done an electric cutout. With headers, I'd go electric cutout after each collectors and a catted Y with a quiet muffler (if you want louder than the stock one).

I had this problem too. LTs, ORY, Cam and flowmaster fixed it.
