Try a search there was a good link with a tutorial.
Basically it gives you more WOT airflow and better throttle response due to extra air per degree of blade movement.
I cant find the link, actually check my blog I took a couple of pics and might have posted the link.
The main idea is to remove the ridge in front of the blade without damaging the blade seat area. You also bevel the blade to knife edge it again without damaging the edge. You can also cut the shaft in half to just use one side of it to support the blade to remove the restriction from the other half.
