Default Which Kooks should I get?

My car is currently stock pretty much and I would like to get some kooks. I want some that will work well with a heads and cam kit since I look to be doing that b4 long also and with no emissions. What all do I need also do I have to buy 02 extensions seperate and im also looking for a ORY. Also do they come with bolts if not I was thinking about getting stainless ones where they bolt to the heads. Who knows what other mods I have in store next yr too so if I could go a little big that might be good I guess as long as it doesnt hurt it down low too much. Thanks

You could get stainless bolts if you want, but the stock bolts are fine. I would get the 1 3/4" primaries, even with the Head/Cam combo. The only reason I would go with 1 7/8" if if you have H/C and are using nitrous. Maybe some sort of Forced Induction may be helped with the 1 7/8, but I would just assume go with the standard size. I have read various threads where 1 7/8 killed low end torque, and others where it had a negligible loss. It all depends on your combonation.

yeh I was even thinking of the 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8. I see they also make a y pipe with a 3.5 or 4" outlet but does anyone even make a catback for that size. The stock size of 2.75 seems small.

I might just do these then and get my b&b triflow catback I am wanting.
6500RHS 1-3/4" x 3" Stainless Steel Race Headers
6502S 3" Stainless Steel Off Road Y-Pipe

I guess I need these also
Kooks O2 Sensor 24" Extension Harness (Pair)
[109007]

With the catback thats almost 2k worth of exhaust

Mufflex makes a catback in both a 3.5 in and a 4in size (an larger I think).

I just ordered 1- 3/4 primaries for mine i don't plan on any thing big for the car and i street drive it every where. I ordered the headers with kooks 3" ofy pipe as well. Got the extensions and o2 simulators. As long as no bolts break in the process of pulling my old exhaust off i'll be using the original hardware. I'll be looking into a new cat back as well i have a flowmaster. you'll have to let me know how the tri flow sounds with thos headers. It might be what i'm looking for.

prefer kooks 1 7/8 headers myself, had a few header only LS1 cars come near 350rwhp with them, easily 10rwhp peak over typical 1 3/4 header.

I have the 1 7/8s and I have plenty of lowend TQ plus if you get bigger cubes like a 383stroker in the future the 1 7/8s will help you pick up more power.
BTW those sparco's look killer I am going to get some evo XLs this year and I was wondering did you use the sparco rails if so how were they?higher or lower etc?

The 1 7/8 fit just as well as the 1 3/4. I lost no low end torque with them matched with a cattey y and GMMG with only a lid. They will probably help with the N20 im hookin up. Go with whatever size is cheaper at the time.

There's really no reason to get stainless steel coated FWIW.

Coating would only help make it that much cooler. I had a stanless header on my last car and alot of guys where having problems with them getting really hot. I coated mine and it helped alot.

Everything I've read says there is no reason to coat stainless steel other than for cosmetic reasons. Regular coating would help mild steel as a protection barrier from rusting. High Temp Jet Hot coating might drop temps a *little* on stainless steel, but nothing drastic or worthwhile. If you have the coin to drop to get them coated, go for it.

You have to admit it does look good tho . I cant wait to get headers this car is begging for them still cant decide if I should go true duals or not. By the spring time when I want to install these I might have some heads and a cam to install also.

Unless you are planning above 400ci I would stick with the 1 3/4. You'll trade a lot of midrange (sometimes 30#s torque) for "maybe" 5-10 above 6Krpm.
