Default Which type water pump gasket?

Coolant is leaking from water pump. It appears to be the gasket. Car has only 30k miles. Which gasket will not leak in the future, aluminum (like the one that is leaking now), paper or the O-ring type? Might have to do it tonite! Also, I have never done this so any tips would be helpful. It seems pretty easy, just not sure about sealing the gasket. TIA.

Best gasket for the pump is the factory aluminum one. It has a rubber seal built on to it.

The factory 98 (and other early cars) came with paper pump gaskets. If you put some RTV on them, they will seal just as good as the aluminum/O-ring gaskets, but they area BITCH to remove.

Part number is 12588372.
