i spent alot of $$ on the 422 stroker and i still have the 1 3/4th pacesetter on the car.. do you guys think i should upgrade the headers becouse of the stroker or just stick with my current headers??
BTW the car put down 510 rwhp and 490 torque..

I think it is....Quote from WS6 store under the different type of Kooks options:
"primary 1 7/8" with 3" collector: Good for Stroked OR high-flow engines" OR
primary 1 7/8" steeped to 2" with 3.5" collector: good for race only or large CID engines"

You have the stroker with 422..... I'd get the Kooks. Its definetly like twice if not three times the amount of money as the current pacesetters, but I think you could maybe squeak some more horses/torque out of that engine. If you got the extra 1000 bucks kicking around, I wouldnt think twice, and I'd do it. Just my opinion though..... Nice #'s too by the way!

Get the bigger headers and 3.5" ORY. You also need a 3.5" cutout or bigger exhaust plumbing than the standard 3" catback.

Why are you not considering 3" or 3.5" true duals for your 422ci?

Burke (RA7 GTO) over on LS1GTO.com switched out his SW 1 3/4 headers on his 455ci LS1 for the Kooks 1 7/8. He saw NO hp gain from the switch. He was running SW 3 inch dual exhaust for both runs. Just letting you know that larger primary doesn't necessarily mean more hp.

Galen

P.S. They later stuck a snail on the tail and produced 960+ hp on a 455 LS2. He hit the cover of Motor Trend with the GTO...granted it was at the back of the pack of cars on the cover. It did win best bang for the buck of the group of cars even though it smoked #7 piston on a 195+ mph run.

Larger primary can sometime mean loss of velocity and crappy scavenging....

z28onspray: What motor is that 244/248 in? 346? 382? 402? 408? 414? 422? Yes I love mine. It is a bear on the street though, but an animal from a 2nd gear roll.

Nevermind. I saw 422 the second time I read it.

Don't you think that is a small cam for that motor though? It is almost like a hotcam for a stroker. I would think that you would be mid 250's atleast.
