Default Intake and Headers for ls1 Z28??

I have a 2000 Z28 with approx. 103k miles on it. I am looking for a great intake and a set of long tube headers for it. I heard FAST intakes were the premium, but one told me to go with Pacesetter Headers b/c as long as being long tube and throwing less than 600hp I wouldn't benefit as far as gains. LET ME KNOW SOMETHIN! thanks.

FAST intake is overpriced for what you want to do with it.. unless you are a bigger cube or Forced induction.. go with an LS6 intake.. they can be had for 300-325 shipped from this site..

headers.. there are copious headers on the market for our cars.. depends what fits your budget and what you want them made out of or coated..

a popular choice is Pacesetter because of fitment and price and would probably be the best deal

but if you wanted stainless.. you have Kooks or QTP.. and now American Racing.. So take some time and do your searches on this board.. you will find pictures, install photos, Dyno Graph, cost.. ect..

welcome to the board.

You don't need a FAST at this point. The LS6 intake will give you decent gains for 1/3 the price of a 90mm intake/throttle body setup. I wouldn't get the FAST unless you've got a big cam or cam/heads. As for headers there's lots of options. As mentioned the pacesetters have a great price and fit good too. You may get surface rust on them after a while even if you buy the ceramic coated ones. Stainless steel headers are obviously more expensive but will never rust.

and

I'll add that along with a used ls6 intake, a stock ported tb works well.

Also might want to consider True Duals, like the Bassani True Dual kit. Makes more power and tq than a ypipe setup.

Default Sry . . .

I forgot to mention that I have Patriot Stage II heads on order as well as a mild camshaft on order that accomodate with this, so I need to go back to the drawing board on this one. I was figuring the pacesetter heads would still be fine but going with the ported and polished heads and a mildly aggressive camshaft, the FAST intake would probably be necessary. Thanks for all the advice, KEEP THEM COMING!

the fast 78MM probably won't give you much added hp if at all. the 90mm is ment for a good h/c packaged car. or droped and LS6 in an f-car and upgraded the cam.. the 90mm fast setup would be a good addition, but for you... i'd just look for a used LS6 intake on ebay. be cheaper. you would have to buy the install kit too.

Not necessarily required. Most will tell you not to waste money on the FAST, unless you have a BIG head/cam setup. You can always buy one, but otherwise it doesn't seem to be worth the money, unless you have a BIG heads/cam package or bigger cubes. ls6 intake will still work great.
