Default Polished Kooks Headers

Anyone ever polish a set of Kooks headers? Was wondering how well the polishing holds up? Anyone have pics that has done this before?

Stainless headers get a golden color to them from the heat, so I wouldn't bother polishing them because it won't stay. Coating will keeps its finish though.

Good luck with polishing them. I tried a little bit of polish on mine on a small spot (2" X 2") prior to install to see if it was possible and it didn't do much to it. As stated, they will turn colors anyways once through a heat cycle. If you wanted bling type polish you should have got QTP. I wanted great fit and a kick *** catted Y and really didn't care about shiny bling, so I got Kooks.

They are too rough to polish easy. Best way to do them is spin polish the tubes before they are bent. I believe this is how the QTP's are done.

I wet sanded mine, then polished them. It was a lot of work, even with the special micromesh sand paper. If you do it, figure out what portions of the pipes will be visible and focus on those areas.

I'm not polishing them myself. I've got a local guy that I keep secret and usually use for wheels and other things. I just stopped by today to check out another set of stainless pipe that he just finished polishing and they looked great. I know that they will turn a bronze color iver time, but it will be a shiny bronze color. I'm getting them polished for quite a bit less than the coating and they will be done by Thursday. I wasn't really in the market for the bling look, it just worked out for me to have these polished. I wanted a great set of headers that fit and work well that's why I choose Kooks.

One stomp on the loud pedal and they'll turn colors. I hand polished mine not exactly mirror finished but they looked pretty good, too bad that was a waste of time.

Well, I got the headers back a day early and here are a couple of pics. I picked them up from a buddy at his shop and had a few people ask if they were chrome. They look a lot better in person than in the pics. I'm sure they will soon change colors, but I don't really care. If they change to bronze, they will be a shiny bronze color. I like them and that's what counts to me.

Haha, I run uncoated headers on one car and painted uglies on the other. No Problems here.

The S/S we use now is pre polished but when we bend it the Molecule state changes. I can post up some pics for you guys of the S/S before we bend it if you would like. Those things look great

Thanks! I was the guy that called you the other day about polishing the headers and the True-dual set up. They look a lot better in person than they do in the pics though. They are pretty much like mirrors.
