90/90 combo > stock MAF vs SLP vs Granetelli?
I just had a F.A.S.T. 90/90 setup installed on my T/A. Did anybody keep their stock MAF when doing the 90/90 addition? If so, what dyno numbers did you achieve with JUST the stock TB?
Also, if you didn't get good numbers with the stock MAF, is there anyone who saw remarkable gains with JUST adding a 85mm-90mm TB when you realized the stock MAF didn't work well with the 90/90 setup? ... after tuning of course.

u get good numbers regardless of the MAF. PE mode it makes things easy. I have a 90mm Nick Williams TB and 90mm FAST intake.

i would not worry about the maf.. thats not much of a restriction.
Even so i would not buy another maf unless someone gave me one free from a z06 not the slp or granatelli maf and then i would have it tuned... and even still, i probably wouldnt do it.
Youre well below the hp mark where it would make a difference..

One of the best tuners in the state is tuning my car. His shop built my motor and he recommended I buy the SLP 85mm MAF. He told me the stock MAF would hurt my power level and that I need a bigger MAF. They definitely would have charged me for a neww MAF if they would have installed one, so, the old one is still on the car. I looked at it last night and there's definitely not a new MAF on it.
I'm going to have him do a couple of dyno pulls with the stock MAF and them install the SLP 85mm MAF and I'll post up the results in the dyno section with a link to them here.
Thanks for the replies. Hopefully, jimmyblue or a good tuner will weigh in on my original question here.
When my motor was forged, the ringlands were set up for a 200-250 nitrous hit. In the spring, a progressively controlled, direct port 250 nitrous kit is going on the car. Since it's a direct port setup, will the MAF make a difference?

You can get the Delphi MAF or ZO6 MAF to replace the stocker as well as the SLP. They are all three 85mm. I run the Delphi 85mm on my Z28 w/ direct port of 275-350 shot. You are gonna be laying down enough power to max out the stocker for sure. It is a good idea to upgrade in your case.

I have h/c and 90/90 and my car dynoed the same with the stock descreened as it did with the SLP descreened. It also did the same with the spray. I don't think your going to max out a factory descreened MAF. I know others on here might say you will, but I'm 550rwhp on spray and my stocker is fine. IMO upgrading the MAF is a waste.

A 400rwhp car on motor is going to have the same amount of **** flowing through the MAF no matter if it's spraying nothing or a 200 shot.
You CAN run into a restriction with the stock MAF if you're over 500rwhp N/A. In this case, the best option is a factory 85mm and tuning work to compensate. Some people run the SLP and Pace units without problems, but that's up to you.

honestly, there is no best tuner, as everyone does things differently, and there are so many damn ways to skin a cat.....
there are good tuners that do the job right.

I find it hard to believe, on a 90/90 setup, that a 75 mm MAF is not a restriction. If the 90/90 is flowing to it's utmost, then just physically speaking, the small MAF will be a restriction. Forget about how much hp it can handle, hell a stock TB and ls6 intake can handle 600 rwhp, that's not the point. The point is does it have a restriction, and in a 90/90 setup that is actually using the 90/90's performance, I would say a definate YES. Just look how small it is compared to 90mm! At full flow there's no way a 75 mm MAF (or a 75 mm Throttle Body for that mattter...) can keep up with a 90 mm intake.

ok guys please dont think the stock maf is not costing power,it is certainly a restriction on a n/a motor over 400 rwhp.It HAS been dyno proven.Guys who say they have made 460 NA with a stock maf, well guess what, you would make probably 480 with no maf and a nice SD tune.I know when my 90/90 goes on,there wont be a maf.You can pick up some decent power removing it,if you dont want to do that then get the biggest one you can find, this is if your running a 90/90 combo. If your using a 75-80mm throttle body, then dont worry about your maf hurting your power.
