Default Do dynomax bullets burn out?

I would like to know if bullets burn out once they get old? I thought i read something about this before.

And if they do burn out does the noise level get quieter?

Just let me know if you guys have heard of this before

Thanks

I have had my dyno max bullit for 2 years now and it hasnt quiested down one bit. they are a straight through design so i dont see them getting quieter. mine sounds great to me esp with the hollowed cats on my ls1.

Basically it is a step up from a glasspack. I think that they will last for several (meaning 5+) years with actual racing.

No, they won't change at all. They are built as resonators from the inside, there are no replaceable or moving parts, so they will not change tone.

if they are a step up from a glass pack.. what would you call a chambered muffler? because when you look down a glasspack and chambered muffler.. they look identical.. and the bullet is just a perforated core.. no baffles..

A chambered muffler.

I was talking in regards to the PepBoys 15$ glasspacks.

There are two main types of muffler chambered mufflers use delfection to cancel out the sound waves and thus reduce db level.

They can either be straight thru as in the LM resontator or have obstructions like the GMMG or be total chambers like the Hooker Areo chambered.

Bullets are a different form of muffler and use sound absorbing material to reduce db levels. This means they have packing in the muffler. Tradiditonally this would be glassfibre due to it's cost and densisty. Modern bullet mufflers are identical but use metal weave instead of glass fibre.

Some people (like Orange) seem to hate glasspacks, never really understood why. Thinks its more of a social thing than technical as glasspacks are effective and can sound just as good.

Mufflers should not become quieter over time, unless they are becoming blocked or fillling up with water.

Glasspacks will actually get louder after 'x' amount of time due to the glassfibre breaking down and becoming less efficent. This is not generally the case with metal weave packing material.

I don't hate glasspacks. They are good for off-road vehicles. Not like no cat off road either...like this offroad:

Nice pic

And I do know where you're coming from. But I guess being this side of the pond V8's are much rarer, 90% of off roaders here will make big black clouds of smoke and a diesel roar as opposed to the rumble of a V8.

I think I saw some mufflers (not dynomax though) with fiberglass or some type of fabric as the dampening inside some non-chambered mufflers .... and some had metal thin shreds .... maybe the fiber glass things are what burn?

depends on casing diameter, core diameter and muffler length.

All being equal I'd guess pretty similar although different tone.

Heh... I remember some years ago watching some kid banging his mufflers on the cement outside his house. I asked him what he was doing and he said "I'm breaking the glass in my glasspacks so they'll make more power". Oooo k buddy, whatever you say, lol.

As to respond to the bullets getting quieter after about a month, I understand what you are talking about because mine HAVE toned done a touch. It comes from the carbon that is now lining the walls of you aluminum bullet where before it was resonating inside the chamber and now it is dampened due to the carbon build up from the exhaust gases.
