Default solid motor mounts?

i like the idea of having my motor solid but i am wondering if these are a good idea for big power? not that i am at this level but 1000lbs/ft of torque? the thing im worried about is a hard pull and snapping the solid mounts from the tq twist of the motor. can this happen or am i just over paranoid?

absolutely not. you will not snap solid motor mounts. you should be more worried about rubber mounts. solid mounts are more durable and rigid(hence "solid").

You'll rip the bolts out of the block before you break a solid motor mount. You've got two noids....... (paranoid....)

I had solid mounts on my LT1 for a month, I had to replace them with poly mounts because the rattling and shaking is unbearable in a daily driver(IMO). If it is a track car or a weekend warrior and you are putting down a ton of power then it may make sense, but if it is a DD, I would go with poly.

Pull exhaust out, jack up motor with phone book between jack and oilpan, unbolt motor mounts form block/k-member, then install new ones. Leave bolts loose untill they are all in.

i agree! i have a pair from energy suspension. i had solid mounts on my race car (in my signature) and the poly mounts fell smoother on corners b/c they GIVE a LITTLE and are mucho better than rubber mount and bushings.

I highly recommend poly motor mounts. They stiffen up the structure just enough, without inducing tons of NVH for a daily driver. Solid mounts are going to vibrate like crazy. Trust me you don't want those unless you are road racing, and even then, poly is a good choice.

haha i too am a driveway mechanic 100%...have converted my 91 Z from aut to T56 in bout 3 days...mainly cause it was about 100* at the time so i was sweatin ***** and bitchin...have changed 3 clutches, done 2 spring swaps about to go a 3rd with a set of adjustable coil overs...now doing my LTs....i do it all myself that way i know im not paying someone who might half *** something. if something goes wrong its all my fault and i cant blame anyone but myself. anyways, ya i just rush ordered a set of solid mounts from spohn so i can get those in while doing my header install.

how can i do this if my tranny isnt in yet? im still waiting for my built t56 to come in so as my car stands its trannyless. now if i were to lift the motor and unbolt the mounts it would probably be un balanced therfore possibly falling in one direction right? would it be possible to do one sie at a time with solid mounts? prob not seeing as they dont flex like normal mounts right?
