There's nothing to "break-in" inside a chambered muffler, so it shouldn't get any louder over time.

Yea, they don't have any packing inside to wear out/ blow out.

I always thought after the first little bit they lost some of the metallic sound. I figured it was the inside getting coated with exhaust and carbon residue.

They dont break in, but after a while, they may actually start to rust out.

I had blowmasters on my 03 Cobra and we pulled em out to do some welding, and the "chevrons" on the inside we're all coroded out. Pretty much I had a pro-chamber on each side of my exhaust.

Ive had flowmasters on a few cars and trucks, for some reason they do get louder as they get older.

It probably has something to do with the bearings inside...

My buddy says his Hooker cat-back was very quiet when he first put it on his 30th Z, but after a week it got noticeably louder. He also figured it had to do with whatever coating or residues on the inside of the muffler getting burned out.

They do change sound. As the soot builds up in them, they dont have the "tinny" sound anymore.

Do you think your the computer took a ittle driving to retune for the addition or change in flow. Thus making the motor run better and maybe just maybe it is louder. cause louder is always faster.
