Default LS1 Intake(EGR mod) VS. LS6 Intake!!!

LS1 Intake(EGR mod) VS. LS6 Intake!!!

So just as the title says,..whats the ACTUAL power difference between an LS1 Intake w/ an EGR mod VS. an LS6 Intake?!

Im just curious cuz I'm debating on a ZEX N2O kit but I would be using the current LS1 intake (w/ EGR mod) OR an LS6 intake w/ some additional suspention parts.
Basically I got about 1K to blow on the car and the ZEX kit w/ purge kit and window switch will add up to 1K OR I can blow $500 on an LS6 intake and Some Suspention parts!

Which do you guys think I should go with?!! Oh,....and exactly how safe is an LS1 intake w/ a 125 shot of N2O?... This is the primary reason for asking this question. Don't feel like having an insodent with the LS1 intake and N2O!!!

on 98-00 LS1 motors the EGR is the tube that is just aft of the TB on the LS1 intake. (LS6 intakes don't have it there) the EGR tube hangs low in the intake path and sits directly in back of the TB. The mod being to saw it off and cut down the air restriction.

An LS6 will give you 10-15 HP over an LS1. And they're in the for sale section all day long for like $350 shipped! Do an LS6 intake and LTs/ORY. You'll have about $900 into that and get about 35-45 HP that is there ALL the time. You can also sell your stock LS1 intake for $50 on here.

i wouldnt use nitrous on any plastic intake.IMO however many piople do and never have a problem.if you are well experienced with nitrous do it but if you cant properly tune it hae some epoxy handy.

Well,..I'm try'n to make up my mind is all.

As far as mods go,..I got a free Ram Air mod, lid, MAF, smooth bellows, port/polished TB, EGR mod, (basically ALL free mods), Predator tune, LoudMouth(resonator) exhaust and SLP LTs come'n on Monday! Sooo,.... Just wanna know what I should do next! N20 or LS6 intake. I'd rather get the N2O but I'm just curious if i'm gonna have issues with the LS1 intake as opposed to the LS6 intake on N2O. If its gonna be an issue then i'll say **** it and just get the LS6 and maybe an underdrive pully!

That and I'm curious what the ACTUAL flow numbers where on an LS1 intake WITH an EGR mod compared to an LS6 intake is!!

Oh,....I would. Its just a cash flow issue at this moment. I'm try'n to prioritize what goes on the car at THIS moment!

Basically,..If the LS1 intake won't have issues with a 125 shot then I'll save the LS6 intake purchase for after summer!

Nitrous would be a great mod for the moment, but if you plan on adding anything more to the car you'll need at the very least a LS6 intake, with a possible FAST depending on how deep your pockets are. Nothing wrong spraying N20 into a LS1 intake, BUT i would NOT spray without having someone adjust the tune for it. People do spray with stock untuned motors, but i wouldn't.

FYI,...I think if we keep talking about the N2O this threads gonna get LOCKED quick!! I'm only really asking if anyone knows the flow numbers on an LS1 intake w/ an EGR mod(not an LS1 intake w/o an EGR mod) to an LS6 intake!

Don't get me wrong guys,...I appreciate all the responses but i'm just look'n for the answer to that question. We digressed a bit! I just don't want this to get locked!

I'll ask about the N2O and the LS1 intake in the Nitrous Oxide section tho.

I seriously doubt the EGR mod has any affect on HP, certainly nothing measurable with a chassis dyno anyhow.

Remember the early C5's had the LS1 intake but without EGR and they didn't make anymore HP than a Fbody LS1.

So the LS6 should see the same 15-20rwhp gain mostly from 4500rpm over the LS1 intake.

However, if buying a new intake prevents you getting nitrous then you'll see less gain from the intake swap than adding a nitrous setup.

Depends on your goals, if you want more speed now I say sod the LS6 and go for the NOS!!!

first, go over to the slp website and buy their intake for like 370 plus shipping...

then use that extra 100 bucks ontop of the rest for the nitrous ****, just hold out a few more weeks and then do it to it.

i didnt know that people were paranoid spraying on an ls1 intake? i shot a 100 then a 150 shot on mine and had no problems with anything happening to the intake. i did burn up number 6 plug with the 150 shot....but meh, i was still on the stock timing table, i did how ever have an upgraded fuel pump...
