Default Headers and EGR and AIR ?

Hey guys in the next few days I will be ordering Pacesetter LT's for my 98 Formula. I am debating on getting the headers with the EGR and AIR hookups or just the race type and getting rid of all the emissions crap. I am in South Florida and have no inspection or emissions checks so that is of no concern to me. I know if I get rid of the AIR and EGR I will throw codes unless I get them tuned out. My ? is will I just get a check engine light or will the performance suffer as well if I don't get the codes tuned out? This really wouldn't be a concern and I would just get the headers with the EGR and AIR provisions but the car has 98,000 miles on it and I doubt the EGR and AIR system are working as they should anyway, and the car would probably run better without them. I don't expect much in the way of gains if any. Right now I am getting some noticable pinging at higher RPM's. Could that be anything to do with the emmisions equipment? I know it could be a fuel filter which I'm changing tommorrow or clogged cats which will be going when I get the headers. The car has new NGK's and MSD wires. Also the car idles a little high about 1050rpm. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Get the RACE version. You will have no ill effects or loss of performance with the SES light on and EGR or AIR deleted. You could get those codes tuned out to eliminate the SES light.

If you dont have to worry about emissions. I would just get the race version.

I just did a pacesetter install and I regret not getting the race style. My emissions hook ups dont line up for crap. I have a leak there now. I bought block off plates, but wish I would have just got the race because it looks cleaner.

Well you guys convinced me. Race style it is. One more ? I am also getting a lid. Should I get the 00-02 style instead of the 98-99 style since I am getting rid of the AIR?

Any input on the last question about the lid? Thanks

well if you get the 00-02 version it will have a big *** hole in the side you will need to patch if you're not using AIR, so i'd go with the 98-99 one.

Thanks. I also found out one of my buddies has a HP tuner and can tune out the codes for me. So I will definately be getting rid of that crap.
