Default best sounding dual/straight through muffler

whats the best sounding dual exhaust setup with any straight through muffler? can be dynomax, borla, magnaflow,..etc. ill be putting long tubes on shorty with x pipe and ill be dumping it right at the rear axle. id like some ideas on what mufflers to get. ive spent hours on ls1sounds but still not sure. im leaning towards borla xr-1's. what do you guys think?

I would vote for dynomax bullet being the loudest. As far as quality. I would have to say the Twister Flow Pro's. It is what I run on my duals.

magnaflows are great sounding and have a very good price. they are pretty similar to the XR1s but at 1/2 the cost.

they really toned my car down but still allow it to have a deep rumble. and better yet there is almost no rasp at higher rpm...

And IMO the Magnaflow's have a deeper tone to them vs the XR1's

Any Straight-through muffler will perform the same, which is good. I've heard Magnaflows and they sound deep, but the borlas sound deeper. Contact Tim @ EAD Performance for quotes.

is there any performance gain or sound quaility to be had by going from 2.5" to 3" pipe or vise versa? x pipe no major mods. just a few bolt ons.

3" will support more hp than 2.5", but for most cars 2.5" is enough. It will support over 500 hp.

I ran cherry bombs by thrush, they are cheap, and they soiund great, very solid mufflers as well. Whats nice about them is that they are fairly quiet around town, but if you crack it open they get real loud, I would get compliments all the time. With some of those race mufflers, you will get drone while you drive, and it gets annoying real quick-trust me on that one.
