Default VERY stiff radiator hoses

what could be my problem? i've recently done a heads/cam swap and since then i've been battling the cooling system. i've replaced the 160 t-stat and the radiator cap and also bled the air out in an effort to get the temps down. doing that stuff has dropped my temps by quite a bit but my radiator hoses are still VERY hard to squeeze while the car is running and up to temp. i know that the t-stat is opening and the hose to my overflow is free and clear. ( i took the hose off and blew into it)
is there just more air that i need to let work out or is it something else that i'm overlooking???

thanks

mac

well, i'm basically going by my buddy's car. his was up to full temp and you could pinch the hoses on his car in half if you wanted to. when you grab the upper hose on mine and give it a squeeze, it'll only give about 1/4-1/2". that just seems WAY too tight. maybe i'm wrong, but it just doesn't seem good. the car isn't overheating, or anything. i'm just worried that there's too much pressure on those lines.

If its at full temp why in the hell would you grab a hot *** hose The system is pressurized so yes they should be pretty damn firm.
Now if theres no problem shut the hood and WALK AWAY
And your buddy probably needs new radiator cap

very dumb question, but when you installed the heads did you double check the allignment of all the coolant ports with the gasket?

yeah, they lined up... the coolant is flowing well.
maybe i'm being ****, but the hoses don't feel right.

i understand that the system is pressurized, but this doesn't feel like a hose that's under 18 psi of pressure. i'm trying to catch a problem before it becomes too big. (ie. blowing the radiator apart or blowing a hose off while driving down the highway)
