exactly! don't worry about what the gauge indicates, unless it gets to the Red numbers.

ok what about 98 cars did it help?

I have a 98 but it`s not that helpfull since I only used it for few days with a stock thermostat but both the fans are always running (I think wired by the previous owner) it`s mostly under the first querter just sometimes goes to 200 for a while then slowly comes down (might be the thermostat opening) but when moving it`ll go down below the first querter .... a 160 hypertech is on the way with a radiator tube rodding end of month just for precaution.

i installed a 160 thermo, and after logging info on hp tuners noticed the temps were still the same. they didn't change until i lowered the fan settings, so my assumption was that the thermo change didn't do much to change the normal operating temps.

btw with the temp now lower, the gauge still reads exactly the same, so as someone stated earlier the stock temp gauge is crap.

160 is not that great of a mod, guess some people stay away from it. The stocker is more then fine. The SLP fanswitch IS a good mod though IMO...I would go with that as well.
