Default AC pully tensioner removal

I have done the search and found out that my ac pully tensioner is shot. Can some one recommend a good write up to remove this pully and the best place to purchase a new one. I saw that some people went to O'rellys for the pullys.

Thanks for the help

Thats where I went for mine. Its really pretty simple. All you have to do is take a 15mm wrench and socket to remove the belt and I believe the tensioner itself is also held by two 15mm bolts. Take it off and install the new one. Easy.

The AC tensioner is one bolt (13mm head iirc)....just did mine

Check the belt too - both my belt and tensioner were bad. Once I had replaced both, the annoying squealing was gone!

Then tensioner was like 50 bucks (special order) from Autozone. Took 4 days to get to me. I think the dealer has some absurd price if you choose to go w/ them. Belt was 15.

I took a look around, and the belt is cracking really bad. So, I think that is the problem.

Be careful. Sometimes the belt will crack and get messed up because the tensioner is broken. That's what happened to me. But good luck either way!

Well, the car has 100,000 miles on it with the stock belt. So, it if it still chirps, then i will go to the AC pully. Either way, it needs to be replaced.

Tight. Lol, it's not a critical fastner, so just tighten it by feel. I think the threads are in aluminum, so don't go crazy.

Both the A/C idler and the A/C tensioner pullies are held on by a single bolt.

The idler pulley bolt should be torqued to 37 ft lbs.
The tensioner bolt should be torqued to 18 ft lbs.

It's kinda the opposite of the drive belt in that the tensioner there is torqued to 37 ft lbs.
